The City of Pooler will be celebrating Halloween on Saturday, October 30. Trick-or-treating will be permitted from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
City Hall will be closing on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. HVAC repairs. Standard business hours will resume on Monday, September 13, 2021.
The Greater Pooler Area Chamber of Commerce's Patriot Weekend event, originally planned for September 10-12, has been postponed until spring 2022. For additional information, visit poolerchamber.com.
Beginning the week of July 26, EOM operations will be conducting a smoke test of the sewer system in the areas near Moore Avenue and Rogers Street. In the event you see smoke coming from vent pipes on your roof or around your toilet, sink, shower, or tub drains, DO NOT be alarmed. The smoke being used is completely human and pet-friendly. NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The City of Pooler, Georgia has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 27.80 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at City Hall on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 26 at 12:00 p.m., and Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
The millage rate will be set at a Special Called Meeting of Mayor and Council to be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m at City Hall,100 US Highway 80, Pooler, GA 31322. Teleconference access will be available for this meeting for those who cannot attend in person by calling (571) 317-3112 and using access code 663-891-213.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 4.597 mills, an increase of one (1) mill. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 3.597 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $70 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $80.

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: The cause of the discharge was a failed air relief valve.
ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Estimated less than 4000 gallons.
RECEIVING WATERS: Pipemakers Canal, a tributary of the Ogeechee River.
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: The air relief was repaired. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide, and discharge was 90% recovered.
SPILL STATUS: Discharge is no longer leaking.
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE DISCHARGE: Replacement of the air relief valve.
