Public Notice | Chatham County Community Preparedness Survey

Chatham County is conducting a community-wide survey to better understand how residents perceive risks, prepare for emergencies, and address concerns about reducing the impact of natural and man-made hazards. These findings will be used to update the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.

A Hazard Mitigation Plan details how a community will navigate and mitigate hazards. Hazard mitigation refers to actions taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term risks associated with disasters by minimizing potential damage and loss of life through planning, structural and infrastructure improvements, protective measures, and public education efforts. Your confidential responses to the 15-20 minute questionnaire at the link below are valuable in best updating Chatham County’s Plan.

All responses will be kept confidential and your participation is voluntary. Your input will enable Chatham County, Bloomingdale, Garden City, Pooler, Port Wentworth, Savannah, Thunderbolt, Tybee Island, and Vernonburg to better protect their populations, structures, and infrastructure from disaster damages. For more information, visit Chatham Emergency Management Agency – Preparedness Article. If you have any questions, please contact Randall Mathews, Deputy Director, Chatham Emergency Management Agency, 912-201-4500, [email protected].
