Public Notice | City of Pooler Receives Federal Grant to Improve Street Safety

Published on: Jan 13, 2026
The City of Pooler is proud to announce it has been awarded $240,000 as of one of the 521 recipients of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant. This grant will fund development of a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic related injuries or fatalities. Announced in December, the SS4A grant is guided by the Safe System Approach, which emphasizes designing roads that account for human error and reduce the severity of crashes.
As part of the City of Pooler’s ongoing efforts to improve traffic infrastructure, the grant will go towards supporting detailed evaluation of roadway safety across the city. This analysis includes crash data, as well as a citywide risk and vulnerability assessment. These results will provide city staff with a comprehensive safety plan of prioritized projects and policy recommendations aimed at making streets safer for everyone.
Additionally, this action plan will position the City of Pooler to seek future funding to implement these improvements. The total estimated cost of the project is $300,000, with the majority covered by federal funding.
