Public Notice | Fort Stewart Controlled Burns

As part of Fort Stewart’s annual burn season (December 1 to June 30), their Forestry Branch will conduct controlled burns today April 1, 2026. Be advised that smoke and/or ash may drift into the Pooler area. Controlled (prescribed) burning is a managed burn that uses low intensity fire to improve and enhance our Soldiers’ training lands, clear underbrush to reduce wildfire hazards, and improve wildlife habitat.

From Fort Stewart:
Fort Stewart Forestry Branch will be burning in the following training area today Wednesday, 1 April 2026: 1. C15– 741 acres- Aerial burn. Area is 18 miles NE of Bldg. 1- and 4-miles NE of Richmond Hill fire tower. Flames and smoke will not be visible from GA highways 144E or 119. Predicted winds are SE 2-7 MPH.
