Effective January 1, 2026, the Planning & Zoning Commission will transition to one meeting a month to allow for more comprehensive review of agenda items and preparation by both staff and City Council. The new meeting schedule is posted on the City’s website on the public meetings page.
Also effective January 1, 2026, site development plans will no longer be approved by city council. The site plans will go through the standard staff review process, and when ready for approval, will go to the Planning & Zoning Commission for review and recommendation. The public may provide input on site plans at the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. After the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, the site plan will be presented to city council for review and comments at their next scheduled workshop. Staff will ensure all comments from council are provided to the applicant and addressed. Once addressed, the City Manager or Planning & Development Director will be the final approval authority.
City Council will remain the approval authority of zoning action items such as rezonings, variances and conditional use requests. The item will first go to the Planning & Zoning Commission for a recommendation, then it will be presented to city council at their workshop the next week, and then will go to city council for approval at their 2nd meeting following the workshop.
