In late 2025 the City of Pooler was made aware of fraudulent emails being sent to residents and developers claiming to come from the City’s Planning and Zoning department. These scammers utilized the publicly available planning and zoning packets to find and contact potential victims. In response, and to protect the public from future scam operations, the application portion containing identifiable or personal contact information was removed from publicly available packets. The packets continue to include all necessary project details, staff reports, and supporting materials.
Since implemented, this change has eliminated reports of scam attempts entirely.
Even with these precautions in place, please remember, these emails may appear professional and reference legitimate processes. They may also include official looking invoices or requests for wire transfers which the City of Pooler does not accept as payment. These are NOT from City sources or associated with the City of Pooler in any way.
Things to look for if you have a suspicious email:
- Emails from the City of Pooler NOT ending with @pooler-ga.gov; official City of Pooler emails will end with @pooler-ga.gov
- Guarantees of application approval based on payment
- Unsolicited attachments or suspicious links
- Requests for payment via wire transfer
The City of Pooler will never ask for payment via wire transfer. Any applicant who receives an email requesting a wire transfer for application fees should immediately disregard the email.
