City Event | Monument Sign Ribbon Cutting

The City of Pooler proudly celebrated the completion of two new monument signs at the off-ramps of I-95 at Exit 102. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Friday, December 20, 2024, marked the official unveiling of the signs, which are designed to strengthen Pooler’s visibility and identity, whether travelers are entering the city or simply passing by.

“As the City of Pooler continues to thrive, city staff, council members, and I are pleased to showcase our pride in this wonderful community through the installation of these monument signs,” said Mayor Karen Williams. “The response from our residents has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are proud to share this accomplishment with them. What makes this one even more special is that no property tax funds were used for the design or installation of these signs; this project was fully funded through alternative means.”

The new signs are a key component of an expansive beautification project, launched in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), designed to enhance both the landscaping and infrastructure around the interchange. Adorned with Pooler’s distinctive seal, these signs not only elevate the arrival experience for travelers entering via Highway 80 but also strengthen the City’s presence along the vibrant I-95 corridor.

“These monuments are more than structures,” said Councilmember Michael Carpenter. “They are symbols of our Pride in history, our commitment to Family through progress, and our Honor in building a future that inspires generations to come.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Pooler elected officials, city staff, and the engineering firm Thomas & Hutton, all of whom gathered to celebrate the successful completion of this impactful project.

“These signs may seem like a small addition,” said Mayor Pro Tem Aaron Higgins, “but they play a big role in welcoming people to Pooler and fostering that spirit.”
