The City of Pooler invites students passionate about their community and serving others to apply for the Pooler Youth Council. This leadership program is designed for high school students who want to make a positive impact and get involved in their community. Pooler Youth Council will give participants firsthand experience in local government and public service. Members will share ideas, learn from city leaders, take part in community initiatives, and build skills that prepare them for future leadership opportunities. The program runs September through May, annually. Members are required to attend monthly Pooler Youth Council meetings and City Council meetings, in addition to select special events and an overnight trip to the Georgia State Capital in February.
Applicants should:
- Be a resident of the City of Pooler
- Be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade for the current school year
- Be committed to serving their community
- Have leadership potential and a willingness to learn
- Have the ability to actively participate in required meetings and events
- Be responsible, professional, and have respect for others
- Be interested in local government and civic engagement
- Be open-minded and willing to work with their peers
