Plant a Tree for Free

In honor of Georgia Arbor Day, you'll be able to select a tree—for free—to plant at your home! On March 13, 2021, trees will be available for pickup at the Pooler Recreation Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are 350 trees available for Pooler residents, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (one per household). Pooler Parkway / Quacco Road / Mosaic Conceptual Plans

The city recently received the Moffatt & Nichol traffic study for Pooler Parkway - Quacco Road, and EOM Operations presented conceptual plans for Pooler Parkway - Mosaic Commercial Development at the 2021-02-01 City Council Meeting. You will find lnks to both documents below. Please note that these plans are conceptual in nature and have yet to be finalized.

March 1st Council Moved to 2nd

  • Please note that City Council approved the regularly scheduled March 1st meeting to be changed to Tuesday,  March 2nd, to accommodate City employees who annually participate in a local charity golf tournament. All of the items that are scheduled to be presented at City Council on March 1st will be heard on March 2nd.

Chatham County Emergency Rental Assistance

Chatham County received an $8.7 million grant on January 15, 2021, which will be designated for emergency rental assistance.The Emergency Rental Assistance Program is intended to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In accordance with the grant’s guidelines, awarded funds must be used for direct financial assistance including rent, rental arrears, utilities, and utilities in arrears. Funds expire on December 31, 2021.

Qualified recipients will be prioritized for assistance on a weekly basis. The primary applicant should be the signee on the lease agreement and/or utility invoice. All applicants should provide documentation as proof of need. Prioritization of assistance include:

  • At risk of eviction
  • The income of the household does not exceed 50% of the area median income for the household.
  • One or more the individuals within the household are unemployed as of the date of the application for assistance and have not been employed for the 90-day period preceding the application date.

County staff is working with several local organizations to administer the program. Any Chatham County resident in need of rental assistance should contact UWCE or EOA directly beginning Monday February 1, 2021.

Sangrena/Highway 80 Traffic Signal Project

The Sangrena/Highway 80 traffic signal project is now underway. As part of this project, the Sangrena entrance sign will be relocated/reconstructed.

City Closure 12/31 and 1/1

All administrative offices will be closed 12/31 and 1/1 in observance of the New Year. We will return to normal operating hours beginning Monday 1/4/2021. Have safe and happy celebrations!

January 4th Council Meeting Cancelled

Due to lack of quorum the meeting on the 4th will be cancelled. 

Atlantic Waste 1/1/21 Closure & County Tree Disposal

Atlantic Waste will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2021 for the New Year’s Day. They will run one day behind for Friday residential customers. If your normal day is Friday it will be picked up on Saturday.

Live Christmas trees will be picked up for disposal by Chatham County on standard landscape debris pickup days. Residents also have the option of bringing trees to the recycling event located at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport recycling lot on Aggett Drive through January 9. Be sure to remove all lights, ornaments, wire, hooks, string, tinsel, and flock from your tree for a smooth recycling process. While at the drop-off site, residents are also encouraged to recycle any wrapping paper and cardboard boxes that may be left over from the holidays.
