Sewer System Smoke Test

Beginning the week of July 26, EOM operations will be conducting a smoke test of the sewer system in the areas near Moore Avenue and Rogers Street. In the event you see smoke coming from vent pipes on your roof or around your toilet, sink, shower, or tub drains, DO NOT be alarmed. The smoke being used is completely human and pet-friendly. City Council Planning Retreat

Notice is hereby given that the Mayor and Council of the City of Pooler, GA are holding a planning retreat including an executive session to discuss personnel, legal, and/or real estate matters on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at The Club at Savannah Quarters, 8 Palladian Way, Pooler, GA 31322. Notice of Property Tax Increase


The City of Pooler, Georgia has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 27.80 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at City Hall on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.,  Monday, July 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 26 at 12:00 p.m., and Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

The millage rate will be set at a Special Called Meeting of Mayor and Council to be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m at City Hall,100 US Highway 80, Pooler, GA 31322. Teleconference access will be available for this meeting for those who cannot attend in person by calling (571) 317-3112 and using access code 663-891-213.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 4.597 mills, an increase of one (1) mill. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 3.597 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $70 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $80.

REPORT SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 30, 2021

LOCATION OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Ditch near the intersection of Pooler Pkwy and Durham Park Blvd. (32.126239, -81.259467)

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: The cause of the discharge was a failed air relief valve.

ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Estimated less than 4000 gallons.

RECEIVING WATERS: Pipemakers Canal, a tributary of the Ogeechee River.

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: The air relief was repaired. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide, and discharge was 90% recovered.

SPILL STATUS: Discharge is no longer leaking.

Savannah Quarters ERPD and Public Meeting Notice

The City of Pooler hereby gives notice that a public meeting will be held to discuss a wastewater improvement project funded by Georgia’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSF) on July 20, 2021 at 5:00 PM in the Pooler City Hall located at 100 SW Highway 80, Pooler, Georgia 31322. The proposed project consists of the Savannah Quarters Master Lift Station upgrade and 18-inch sanitary sewer force main to the City of Pooler Wastewater Treatment Plant. The purposes of the public meeting are to:

  1. Inform the public of the need for improvements to the City’s wastewater system.
  2. To comply with Section 391-3-6-.02 of Georgia’s Water Quality Control Rules (and amendments thereto).
  3. To encourage public involvement in the development of a plan to improve the wastewater system

During the public meeting the City will attempt to identify public preferences for alternative methods of replacement and capacity upgrade of the force main and pump station. These alternatives are evaluated and included in the City’s Environmental Review and Planning Document (ERPD). The ERPD is available for public inspection through the date of the public meeting at City Hall during normal business hours. Your participation is encouraged and considered essential to the selection and development
